We are a certified public accounting firm, offering a full range of accounting and tax services to businesses, not-for-profit entities and individuals. Our principal has over 20 years of experience serving clients. T.R. Klein & Company employs eight individuals in a full or part time capacity. Our philosophy emphasizes the delivery of the very highest quality service to our clients. This is achieved by continuous, direct personal involvement of the principal in all aspects of your engagement.

THE PRINCIPAL

Thomas R. Klein, CPA specializes in audits of voluntary health and welfare organizations, construction, manufacturing and retail concerns, professional associations. He has more than twenty years of experience in all aspects of public accounting. Formerly Mr. Klein was a manager with Main LaFrentz & Company. He obtained his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Baltimore in 1973 and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants.

ACCOUNTING AND AUDITING

We provide audit, review and compilation services. An audit is a comprehensive examination of financial statements. We analyze the system of internal control and method of operation as well as review and test the accounting records. The end result of an audit is the expression of our opinion on the fairness of the presentation of financial statements. Our approach to auditing is a constructive one. As a result of acquiring a thorough knowledge of financial and administrative operations, we often suggest improvements for more efficient operations, stronger financial structure, and improved accounting and administrative controls. Our philosophy and practice is to blend the technical and practical approach to each engagement.

Many businesses do not require an independent audit of their financial statements. In these instances we provide a compilation or review of the financial statements. A compilation is simply the preparation of monthly, quarterly or annual financial statements with no assurance by us as to whether material changes are necessary to comply with acceptable reporting standards. A review involves the application of inquiry and analytical review procedures and a report that states that material changes are not necessary to the financial statements to comply with acceptable reporting standards.

TAX SERVICES

We provide our clients with a full array of tax compliance, consulting and planning services. Our primary goal is to minimize federal and state tax liabilities while remaining in full compliance with the tax laws, regulations and rulings. Current developments such as new legislation and new tax savings techniques are brought to our clients by special tax bulletins and by direct one-on-one communications. IRS rulings, court opinions, new regulations and state tax developments are continually monitored for new tax saving ideas. We also represent our clients before the Internal Revenue Service and work closely with tax counsel to resolve tax controversies. Individual clients are provided with a full range of estate and financial planning alternatives.

PUBLICATIONS

T. R. Klein & Company mails the CPA CLIENT BULLETIN monthly. The purpose of our publication is to keep our professional staff, clients and others informed of the trends, events and new concepts that will affect the business community in the decade of the 90's and beyond. While communication between T. R. Klein & Company and its clients traditionally has been a one-to-one relationship, the emphasis on direct communication stimulates an exchange of ideas and the solution of problems in a personal rather than institutional manner.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

Our principal and professional staff have devoted many hours to various charitable, civic and community activities. We believe that it is our responsibility to give our time to worthy organizations in the community.
